Biography

« Jorge Luján is a writer, musician and architect who was born in Córdoba, Argentina and lives in México City. He has published poetry, comics, narrations for children and youngsters, and a guide on how to write based on works that are found in the Museum of Anthropology of Mexico. Jorge conducted creative writing workshops and concerts at Columbia and George Washington University. He teaches educators the importance of encouraging children to unlock their imaginations through music and poetry. Many of his poems juxtapose images of the physical world with the child's creative inner spirit:

some carry guns in their hand
you carry a flute
a flute!
oh, little one
life is savage
outside the jungle

In 1995 Jorge won the Children's Poetry Prize of ALIJA (the Argentine Association of Children's Literature). A true Renaissance man, he is also the recipient of a Fullbright scholarship in architecture. (Extract from the Groundwood Books' Spring 2002 Catalogue)
